Have Fun at Your School!!!

Hey, guys, time flies! Can’t believe school is going to start very soon. Before taking your first class at York, it is important to have a big picture of York University and know its various student support services and places to eat, relax and study!
Let’s start with the eating spots!
Student Centre: There is a good news to all the first year student this fall because Student Centre was renovated in the summer. I just passed by yesterday and it looked amazing and made me have a brand new feeling. Student Centre is one of the main places for students to get fast food during lunch break. There are six fast food restaurants such as KFC and Wendy’s in Student Centre.

York Lanes: It is like a mini mall where all kinds of stores that we usually find in big malls. There are many restaurants here at York Lane, where the food is healthier than that in Student Centre, such as Sakura and The Great Canadian Bagel. There are also Computer Store, Travel agency, Barbershop, Bookstore, Banks, Convenient Store, and etc.
Cafeterias: There are many cafeterias located in some busy spots on campus, such as Central Square, Tel Building, Winters College and Stong College. There are many food options in these cafeterias, such as Italian food, Chinese food, Jamaican food and more. Coffees are offered as well.
In addition, there are some hotdog places on campus as well. All in all, there are over 40 eating places on campus, which is a really good news for York students. J
Then we can go for the places to relax.
York Commons: it is a good place to play Frisbee, soccer, or chatting with friends before winter comes.

Tait McKenzie and Track and Field Centre: Tait McKenzie is one of the most popular places that students often go with friends. It is a good place to release your pressure through working out and playing all kinds of sports that are offered in Tait. Have a peak of Tait and Track and Field Centre.
The Underground Restaurant: This is one of the main places to hold big events in school. Also, almost on every Thursday night, there will be a big party at Underground. It is just for students who live on or close to campus to chill and making new friends after a week’s intense study

Stong Pond: This is one of my favorite places on campus. I usually visit this area to see the geese family who live there. From my perspective; Stong Pond is always a beautiful place away from all the hustle within campus.
There are many other places such as the tennis courts in different locations on campus, so it is your time to explore the campus to find your best place to relax!

Last but not least, it is very critical to find the places to study, which is the main thing that we need to focus in school.
Five libraries: There are five libraries at York, and they are Scott library, Bronfman library, Steacie library, Osgoode library and Frost library. Scott is the biggest library among the above. It is a fifth-story building. Almost each library has group study rooms, quiet and conversation study areas. My recommendation is that try to hit library as much as you can in your first year to have a feeling of the study atmosphere in library!
Lounge areas in each colleges: There are nine colleges at York. Each college has its own college council, where students can hang out or take a break during the day at school. Each college council has its lounge area that students can study or sleep. It is definitely a cool place to know since it is good for fist year students to get familiar with their college atmosphere.
TEL Building: It has some study spots that are open 24/7. It is a good news for students who like to study at night or who like to cram before their exams. It is very quiet there at night and the best part of TEL is that it never closes. J
The aboves is just some places that I found useful to know. There are also some other “mysterious” spots on campus that I did not find yet since York is the third largest school in Canada. Therefore, try to find your own ways to get involved on campus and have fun in school.
