Brief Tour of York U (Part 2)

This is our Schulich School of Business, a world famous business school. It is consistently named as one of the world’s top ten business school and top three in Canada. It offers Bachelor degree--- International Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Business Administrative programs to prospective high school students. However, we have other programs, such as MBA, Master of Finance, EMBA, and etc. If you want to know more information about Schulich School of Business, we have information sessions available to inform you about Schulich programs, feel free to drop by our biggest open house event--- Spring Gala, which is coming soon (March 31, 2012).

This is the Bennett Centre; it consists of the Admission department (their job is look at your applications and whether to enroll you or not), Register’s office (they deal with issues of enrolled York students such as switching majors and scheduling exams), also home to the office of Finance (provides you with OSAP, scholarship. Free money, yeeeeee :D

This building above is Seneca College, which is located on the right side of Bennett Centre. As a York student you don't actually have classes in there, but we do have some joint programs, such as the Nursing Program in which you do two years at Seneca and then transfer to York.

Now it is time to show you guys our amazing residence. This one above is known as Pond Road Residence which provides a suite style of living. At York, we have both the traditional (single and double room style) and suite style of residences. We have 9 residences in total at York including the two in Glendon campus (Hillard & Wood). Traditional style residence offer both single rooms and double rooms (some may offer a few suite style rooms). Suite style residence offers suites that are shared by two to six students. Residence is guaranteed for first year students that apply directly from a secondary school program. Students that apply with marks higher than 90% are guaranteed with a single room if requested. From my experience, I recommend first year students to live on campus because it is easier for them to get involved with campus life since they get a chance to know their classmates and be familiar with campus services which can benefit them a lot in the following years. (I will post a blog of my experience of living in residence and the advantages and benefits that I gained). For those of you who want to know more information about the residence fees, meal plans and other services that residence offers , please click here “I love residence :D

(Continued, and stay tuned ;)
